I came to Metta Law not knowing what to do or where to begin. The consultation was nothing like I expected — Khun Araya listened for a long time before saying anything, and what she said was honest rather than reassuring. I left with a clear summary of my situation and a genuine sense of what options I had. That alone was worth a great deal.

As an expatriate I had no idea how Thai family law worked. The team at Metta Law explained the relevant parts clearly, in plain English, without making me feel foolish for not already knowing. The mediation process took about six weeks and resulted in an agreement both parties could accept. I would recommend them without hesitation.

The situation was complicated and I was in a low point when I first reached out. The team was gentle and professional throughout. What I appreciated most was that they never overpromised or pushed me towards a particular course of action. My case took several months but was managed in a way that kept me informed at every stage.

I had already spoken to two other firms before coming to Metta Law and had left both feeling more confused than when I arrived. The consultation here was different — quiet, careful, and honest. The written summary they provided afterwards was something I referred to many times.

The Saturday appointments were genuinely helpful — I work full time and having that flexibility made a significant difference. Khun Nattawut was thorough and never made me feel that my questions were wasting his time. The agreement was finalised in a way that felt fair to both of us.

My situation involved both Thai and overseas property, which made things complex. Khun Sirinapa was clearly experienced in these situations and guided me through each stage without making me feel overwhelmed. The fee structure was transparent — no surprises, which matters a lot when you are already dealing with a lot of uncertainty.

Illustration 01 — Consultation to agreement
A Thai-British couple seeking clarity on separation arrangements
The situation
A married couple with two children, one Thai national and one British, were uncertain about their legal position regarding custody and property following a decision to separate. Neither had any prior experience with the Thai legal system.
What we did
We began with a joint consultation to set out the relevant legal framework, followed by individual consultations. Both parties chose to proceed with mediation to reach a parenting and financial agreement without court proceedings.
The outcome
A written agreement covering custody arrangements, holiday schedules, and financial provisions was reached over four sessions across eight weeks. Both parties described the process as fair. No court proceedings were required.
"We were both relieved that the children did not have to be part of an adversarial process. The team made that possible."

Overseas assets and a contested financial arrangement
The situation
A Thai national sought assistance after a separation involving property in Thailand and Australia and a dispute over financial arrangements. Communication with the other party had broken down.
What we did
We undertook full representation, coordinating with legal counsel in Australia on the overseas property question and managing the Thai court process. The client was briefed before each new stage with clear cost information.
The outcome
The matter was resolved through court-supervised negotiation over approximately five months. The client received a documented settlement covering both Thai and Australian assets, without the matter proceeding to a full contested hearing.
"I appreciated that every cost was explained before it was incurred. I always knew where things stood."
